Zoya Chegusova – art critic, the President of Ukrainian section of AICA, Staff Scientist of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Institute of Art, Folklore and Ethnography named after M. Rylsky, awared of Shevchenko National Prize, Honored Artist of Ukraine.

 

       General provisions:
International Enamel Festival is planned as an event that takes place every two years, involving all art engaged participants, as representatives of artistic elite of Ukraine, the museums management, collectors, art critics, artists, architects, designers, mass media representatives and sponsor organizations.

 

       Background:
The art of enamel has long history, going back to ancient Egypt, Byzantium, medieval Limoges and Vienna Modern era. Ukraine also has its own enamel art traditions. Enamel can be found in Scythian gold jewelry and decorations of Kiev Rus era, in religious objects of Ukrainian Baroque era. Since late 19th century enamel art started to develop as easel art, but was partially abandoned in Soviet period. Nowadays a resurgence in enamel-based art takes place in Ukraine.

       Aim of the festival:

popularization of ancient and rare art of enamel in Ukraine;

highlighting the current state, problems and prospects of artistic enamel;

promotion of contemporary Ukrainian enamellists;

enhancement of professional skills of artists;

enhancement of professional skills of artists;

popularization of Ukrainian enamel in the world;

exchange of experience.

 

       Tasks of the festival:

wide promotion of the unique cultural heritage in the contemporary arts and crafts;

acquaintance with the potentialities of modern enamel;

providing practical opportunities for improvement of professional skills of participants and encouraging creation of new art works;

acquaintance with the works of leading artists-enamellists;

highlighting contemporary trends in the Enamel Art in the world;

education and aesthetic taste formation of young generation.


       Media partners: media partners cover events of the festival; popularize works of artists-enamellists.

       Festival partners: engaged in helping to organize the festival.

       Participants of the festival: professional artists working in the enamel-based arts are invited to participate in the festival.

 

       How to participate:

Persons interested in participating in the Festival should fill in and send the application form (see the link below) to the Organizing Committee via e-mail enamelkiev@ukr.net and vustavki@gmail.com until 30.7.2013;

Each application should be supplied with 2 to 5 images of art works made in the hot enamel technique (in one of standard digital formats);

selection of works for the exhibition is based on their artistic and technical level and availability of display space;

The registration fee is 300 UAH (EUR 30).

for the exhibition, each participant should provide 2 - 5 works made in hot enamel technique before 30.07.2013;

organizers do not provide accommodation and meal for guests of the festival.

 

       Program of the Festival:

1.

Press conference.

2.

Opening of the festival. Opening of the International Enamel Art exhibitions.

3.

Conference “Modern enamel Art”. Official presentation of the album "Ukrainian enamel" by Julia Boroday.

4.

Symposium. Work in the studios of Kiev artists.

5.

The exhibition discussion.

6.

Intermuseum excursion program (by request).

7.

Closing of the festival. Round table: summarizing and definition of areas of work for the Third International Festival of Enamel Art in Ukraine.


       International exposition of Enamel Art

 

       Within the festival the following exposition sections will be presented in the Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art:

 

1.

Enamel in jewelry.

2.

Enamel as an easel art.

3.

Enamel in architecture.

4.

Enamel as contemporary art.


       The international enamel Art symposium, organized by the art group “Boroday’s studio”

       Artworks made at the symposium will be shown as a special part of the Festival exhibition in the Museum.
